Ensure that the most critical messages are communicated in a time of emergency.
This can happen anywhere along a gas leak to a shooter on campus. The people surrounding an area of emergency need to know what is happening and to be able to get to a safe zone. To send out a message, an Administer that has access, would chose a customization of scenario and it could go over intercoms of schools, via text, email and onto higher authorities alerting them of this event.
The United States Department of Defense reported a deadly terrorist bombing on an American Military housing in Saudi Arabia the late 1990’s. They left comments saying, “Lives could have been reduced and/or avoided, if there was some type of messenger in the house allowing them to get out faster”. Moving on, Department of Defense developed the Unified Facilities Criteria 4-021-01 (UFC): Design and operation of Mass Notification systems requirements document. This document establishes guidelines for providing life safety systems in U.S. military facilities. As time furthered on, September 11, 2001 terrorist attack served as the catalyst for mass notification system for today.
Mass Notification Systems can be used in multiple scenarios at any location. They are for the purpose of protection and communication for those in the surrounding area of a critical event. In today's society, school shooting are becoming more rare to see or hear about on the news; making Mass Notification much more needed.
